Cathedral of Our Lady

Work was begun on the present Cathedral around 1352 and was completed in 1521.  The north tower rises up 123 meters (or just over 400 feet) and without a doubt dominates the Antwerp skyline...besides that, the enourmous size of the clock on the tower eliminates the need to ask the time in Dutch.  The seven-aisled church became a cathedral in 1559, and it was at the time of its completion the largest Gothic construction in the Netherlands.
